To support our residents in their areas where they live we are organising community clean ups targeting hotspots.
Volunteers from the council, local community groups and residents will join housing and environmental services staff and councillors this summer which live our Local values — building trust, working together and putting communities first.
We’re so grateful for the hard work of our volunteer litter pickers around the borough and the council’s Street Cleansing Service provides a range of services and works hard to keep Bury clean and tidy.
Working with our volunteers we can have more of an impact.
Our first clean up day
More than 40 bags of litter and rubbish were taken off the streets of Bury during the first of our LET’s Community Clean ups around the Mosses Centre, East and Edward Streets.
Our next clean up
Our next clean-up is next Thurs 10 July at 11am-1pm at The Green Community Café, Clarence Park, Bury, BL9 5DH

Fly-tipping is a crime
Fly-tipping can be rubbish from a household or a business.
If you discover dumped rubbish, do not touch or handle it, as it may contain hazardous materials and could also contain evidence that we can use.
You can report fly-tipping on our website: https://www.bury.gov.uk/roads-travel-and-parking/street-care-and-cleaning/fly-tipping
If you have large unwanted household items, you can arrange a bulky waste collection, or if they’re in good condition, you could donate them to a charity or community scheme: https://www.bury.gov.uk/waste-and-recycling/bulky-waste
