Skills for work
One of the service's key priorities is to offer courses that support people to gain the skills that will help you improve your job prospects, gain a qualification and progress into high levels of learning. We will be offering courses that can lead to a qualification in English, maths, ESOL, employability skills, IT, foundation learning courses, childcare, food safety, care work and health and social care.
Working in communities
Bury Adult Learning Service works in partnerships with libraries, schools, Jobcentre Plus, community and voluntary sector organisations to help people learn new skills through short courses, especially people who may not have been in learning for a long time. The aim of these courses is to help people build up the confidence to progress into further learning. We offer classes in local community venues with friendly tutors. We offer many different courses including, IT, childcare, employability skills, maths, English, ESOL and many more. Please see our course guide or contact us for more information.
Learning for pleasure
Whether you are a complete beginner or want to take your skills or passion to another level, we have an extensive range of courses to cater for all tastes and abilities, including, arts and crafts, languages, textiles, patchwork and quilting, cookery and creative writing.
Learning for adults with additional learning needs
These courses give opportunities to people with additional learning needs, such as learning disabilities and/or difficulties, sensory impairment and mental health problems. Our aim is to provide an inclusive learning environment and help learners to develop their interests and learn skills before moving into other learning opportunities. Class numbers are kept small and extra support is on hand.
Note: A pre-course interview is required for all additional learning needs courses. For further information, please contact us.
