Spring and Summer Course Guide 2024

Skills for work - courses to help you get that job!

Improve your understanding of the skills needed to gain employment.

One of the Service’s key priorities is to offer courses that support people to gain the skills that will help improve job prospects, gain a qualification and progress into high levels of learning.

We offer courses that lead to a qualification in English, maths, employability skills, IT, foundation learning courses, health improvement, health and social care, childcare and food safety.

Working in communities

Bury Adult Learning Service works in partnerships with libraries, schools, Jobcentre Plus, community and the voluntary sector organisations to help people learn new skills through short courses, especially people who may not have been in learning for a long time. The aim of these courses is to help people build up the confidence to progress into further learning.

Let’s Get Creative!

Whether you are a complete beginner or want to take your skills or passion to another level, we have an extensive range of courses to cater for all tastes and abilities, including, arts and crafts, textiles, patchwork and quilting, soft furnishing/upholstery and creative writing.

Skills For Independent Living and Learning

These courses give opportunities to people with additional learning needs, such as learning disabilities and/or difficulties, sensory impairment and mental health problems. Our aim is to provide an inclusive learning environment and help learners to develop their interests and learn skills before moving into other learning opportunities. Class numbers are kept small and extra support is on hand.

Note: A pre-course interview is required for all additional learning needs courses.
