The Council will not be accepting any applications for new resident parking schemes until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience caused as a consequence of this decision. Existing schemes in operation remain unaffected.
Resident Parking Schemes operate in streets close to town centres, around hospitals and near to Metrolink stations. They allow people who live in these streets to park close to their homes by restricting parking to permit holders only.
If you live in a Resident Parking Scheme zone you can apply for permits for your own vehicle and for people who come to visit you.
Permits are also available for businesses located within Resident Parking Scheme zones.

How to apply
Fill out the relevant form below and provide proof that you:
- own the vehicle - such as an insurance document or a log book
- live in a Residents Parking Scheme zone - such as a Council Tax bill, a business rates bill or a utility bill
You can upload images of documents when you are filling out the form. If you are unable to upload documents you can bring them to Bury Town Hall.
Tell us something has changed
Let us know if:
- you move house
- you change your car
- your permit is lost or stolen
If you are requesting a change of vehicle registration the old permit must be returned to Parking Services, Town Hall, Knowsley Street, Bury, BL9 0SW before the new permit can be issued. If the permit is not returned charges may apply.
Please do not pass on a permit to a new occupant or amend the car details yourself as this will make it invalid.
Temporary parking permits
Temporary parking permits are available to residents for special events, for example, parties or funerals.
You can apply for up to 10 temporary parking permits for a special event.
Temporary parking permits cost £3 each.
You must apply for temporary parking permits at least 48 hours before you require them. Applications made with less than 48 hours notice will not be processed.
Permits will be available to collect after 48 hours from submitting the application form (not including weekends or bank holidays).
