Children across Bury are invited to join this year's Summer Reading Challenge and discover the joy of reading throughout the summer holidays.
The 2026 theme, Read to the Beat, celebrates the joy of music and the power it has to move, inspire and connect us – all through the magic of reading.
The challenge launches on Saturday 18 July and runs until Sunday 6 September.
How to take part
It's easy to get involved:
- Sign up at your local library.
- Read six books or listen to six audiobooks of your choice.
- Borrow books from the library or download eBooks and audiobooks through BorrowBox.
- Collect a sticker for each book you read and add it to your challenge booklet.
- Complete the challenge to receive a certificate and medal.

The annual Summer Reading Challenge is delivered by The Reading Agency in partnership with public libraries and is free for all children to take part.
