Radcliffe Day of Action

On Wednesday 25th March, we held our first Day of Action of the year, helping Radcliffe Litter Pickers with their clean up around Milton field and Coronation Road.

Over the course of the day volunteers helped collect 65 bags of rubbish, clearing 0.36 tonnes of waste. They cleared fly-tipping, tidied and cut back hedges, cleared footpaths and walkways, and provided advice and support to local residents.

Despite challenging weather conditions, including hail, blizzards and snow, around 40 volunteers lent a helping hand, including Radcliffe Litter Pickers, Project Free, Housing Services Staff, Caretakers, Street Cleansing, Grounds Maintenance and Enforcement Officers.

Gill Smith, a member of Radcliffe Litter Pickers, said: “Community action days are a great way for different groups to work together, it offers support to volunteers and the local community. This one was productive, however we need more help, which could be volunteering or just looking after your local area. Don’t fly-tip or drop rubbish, think about the environment and wildlife. Love where you live.”
