Bury’s Domestic Abuse Partnership Board is a multi-agency body established under Part 4 of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021. Its purpose is to support local authorities in fulfilling their statutory duty to provide strategic oversight of domestic abuse-related delivery of services in Bury. This includes reviewing current data of domestic abuse prevalence in Bury, writing policies, overseeing procedures and ensuring that victims are getting the right support. The board ensures that services are coordinated, needs are assessed, and gaps in provision are identified and addressed. In addition, it advises on the development and delivery of the local domestic abuse strategy, helping to ensure that support is accessible, appropriate, and responsive to the needs of our diverse community.

The board is expected to work in alignment with safeguarding duties under the Children Act 1989 and the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. Its work feeds into broader strategies to prevent abuse, support recovery, and reduce reoffending.
