Preparation for Adulthood
This section is designed for professionals working in colleges and training providers who support young people aged 16+ with SEND. It aims to guide collaborative planning and support for the transition into adulthood, focusing on the four Preparing for Adulthood (PfA) outcomes:
Meeting Needs: Supporting Identified needs through a Graduated Approach
Support is structured using the Thrive Framework, under three levels:
- Getting Advice – Universal strategies and adjustments within the learning environment
- Getting Help – Targeted or group-based interventions
- Getting More Help – Specialist or 1:1 interventions
These strategies are flexible and responsive. Some young people may benefit from universal support alone, while others may require more targeted or specialist input.
Hyperlinks are provided to help locate relevant approaches and interventions.
