Bury2gether

Bury2Gether is a forum for parents/carers of young people with SEND who access services in Bury. Bury2Gether works with education, social care, health and other services to ensure that parent/carer voices are represented when designing services for young people and their families in Bury.

Bury2Gether provides a forum to:

  • Meet and socialise with other parents/carers
  • Get involved in shaping services in Bury and consultations around SEND
  • Find activities and services, share information and access training or workshops
  • Find out about regular family events, coffee mornings, wellbeing sessions and clubs
  • Join with social media chats and topics of discussion

Bury Special Educational Needs and Disability Information Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS)

Bury SENDIASS support parents/carers to ensure they get impartial, independent advice on matters relating to education, health and social care.

Bury’s SEND Local Offer

The Bury SEND Local Offer details all the support available to those living in Bury. It is a way to find out what is happening near you (support groups, activities, clubs) as well as the additional support available to families.

Family Information Service (FIS)

The Family Information Service are a free service providing information for parents, carers, young people and those working with families in Bury. 

Family Fund

Family Fund supports families living across the UK who are raising a disabled or seriously ill young person to the age of 17. Support is focused on those on low incomes and families can apply for a range of things such as kitchen appliances, clothing, bedding, games, books and music, laptops and tablets, family breaks and sensory toys.

Early Help

Early Help means identifying needs within families early and providing support and intervention at an early stage. Early Help support can be provided at any time in a young person's life. The Early Help team work closely with other services so that the right support can be accessed at the right time. 

Early Break

Early Break is a service available across different areas of Greater Manchester. The service is designed to meet the needs of young people and families with regard to drug and alcohol use and mental health. They offer a range of services, including advocacy support for young people and support for families. 

 Council for Disabled Children

The Council for Disabled Children is an umbrella organisation for the disabled children's sector. They work to influence policy and practice and to amplify the voices of parents/carers and young people with SEND. 

Scope

Scope is a disability equality charity in England and Wales which provides practical information and emotional support, including a telephone helpline and a free six-week telephone course for parents/carers which can be tailored to individual needs (emotional or practical support). 

Cerebra

Cerebra is a national charity helping young people with brain conditions and their families. Their website includes a range of information and guidance, from apply for funding, to sleep, toileting and emotional support.

Independent Provider of Special Education Advice (IPSEA)

IPSEA provides free and independent legally based information, advice and support to parents/carers. 

SEND Code of Practice

The SEND Code of Practice can be accessed on the Gov.uk website. They have also created an easy-read guide on SEND Support for parents/carers.

Children and Families Act

The Children and Families Act can be accessed on the Gov.uk website. The Council for Disabled Children has produced a brief summary of the Children and Families Act, specific to SEND.
