Prioritising public safety

Community safety is a key priority, and we know how important it is to Radcliffe residents to feel safe at home, in the street and at work.

Greater Manchester Police, Bury Council, local voluntary organisations and local communities are working much more closely to jointly combat law-breaking in the area, with a particular focus on anti-social behaviour, drug dealing and knife crime. This joint crime prevention approach involves ongoing police operations, regular community meetings, talks in schools and the sharing of resilience advice.

Examples of recent community safety activity

Drug-busting

In response to local reports of issues, the neighbourhood policing team joined forces with officers from the Operation Revoke Enforcement Team, a district led operation cracking down on drugs supply, dealers and gangs.

This resulted in:

  • Seizure of hundreds of cannabis plants
  • Seizure of a vehicle
  • Positive stop searches
  • Arrests and charges

Other recent work

  • Redbank Lodges: Visiting the area to identify what changes can be made to help reduce anti-social behaviour in this area
  • Securing parks and bridges: To deter off-road bikes and scooters
  • Traffic enforcement: To encourage responsible use of the roads
  • Anti-social behaviour surgery: An opportunity for residents to express concerns and share local knowledge
