Seeing it, and believing it

Hello everyone. We all know the old saying about believing it when we see it – well, we’ve got some good news on that front.

Firstly, construction work on the Travel Hub in Prestwich has now started. This is just the first stage in our £100 million plans to transform the town centre. The Travel Hub will provide a long-term parking solution for the village delivering 301 spaces, including electric vehicle charging points, cycle storage and a car club. It will replace the Fairfax Road car park, which closed when enabling works began last December.

Delivered by the Prestwich Regeneration LLP – the joint venture between national place maker Muse and Bury Council – it is all part of the plans to overhaul the dated Longfield Centre site, revitalising Prestwich Village with shops, community facilities, public green spaces and much-needed new homes.

In Radcliffe, we’ve got further good news as the ongoing regeneration continues. You’ll know that the new Star Radcliffe Academy opened last year, and it was full in its first year. Well, now work is getting under way on construction for the new permanent buildings.

This marks a significant step on the journey to provide excellent education opportunities for the children of Radcliffe. This is a key part of the ongoing multi-million-pound regeneration of Radcliffe and will contribute significantly to the area.

And up in Ramsbottom, we’ve started to replace the roof on the library to safeguard its future. It’s the perfect opportunity to install solar panels too, which will save on running costs. Another win-win situation - improved facilities for local residents, and good for the environment too.

Back in Bury, with our partners Northern Healthcare we’ve opened Saxon House, a new move-on supported living service.

This innovative service is designed to help individuals with mental health conditions and/or mild learning difficulties transition from 24/7 supported living or hospital care to greater independence within the community. It’s a testament to our commitment to expanding the availability of homes in Bury for those with mental health needs, ensuring they have the support and resources to thrive in their communities.

Believe me, there will be many more opportunities this year and beyond to see it and believe it.
