Utility grants

Some utility suppliers run trust fund grants to help their customers who are experiencing financial difficulty. These funds can help to clear or reduce fuel debts and even pay for household goods and appliances:

Energy bill payment difficulty

If you have gas or electricity bills that you can't pay, you should let your supplier know. They will help work out ways of settling the amount owed, by looking at affordable repayments over an agreed period of time. It's recommended to communicate with your gas and/or electricity supplier about your circumstances, rather than letting debt mount up.

Make sure your energy supplier is aware that you're a pensioner, as they will not disconnect supply to all-pensioner households in the winter.
