If you live in Bury and your child is due to start primary school please apply online following the process below. You can still apply for schools outside the Bury area using the online form. You should still apply for a place even if your child has siblings there or attends the school nursery.

To be able to apply for a place in a Bury School, you must be resident in Bury. If you live outside Bury, you must apply through your home authority.

Key Date | What happens |
---|---|
1 November 2022 | Applications open. Ideally, these should be made online. |
Early November 2022 | Information will be posted out to parents/carers or distributed from your child's nursery advising you on how to apply. |
October to December 2022 | Open days are held at primary schools. You can contact primary schools to arrange visits. This will give you the opportunity to see schools and ask any questions you may have. |
November 2022 to January 2023 | Check what chance your child has of getting a place. Each school has its own admissions criteria. You can also check information on who got places over the last 5 years. |
15 January 2023 | Closing date for applications. Remember that a late application will not be considered until all on-time applications have been offered places. |
17 April 2023 | Allocation day. Emails will be sent to all parents/carers that have applied online after 9am. Letters will be posted to non-online applicants. |
15 May 2023 | Last day for submitting an appeal. |
May to July 2023 | Appeal hearings take place. |
