The eastbound carriageway, from Murray Road to Spring Street, will be closed to traffic overnight on certain dates for up to 32 weeks, starting from February 2025.  The latest closures are as follows.

  • Friday 29 August, 7pm to 4am

  • Monday 1 September, 7pm to 4am

  • Tuesday 2 September, 7pm to 4am

  • Wednesday 3 September, 7pm to 4am

  • Thursday 4 September, 7pm to 4am

Diversions routes will be clearly signed.

Motorists travelling when this stretch of the carriageway is closed, are advised to allow more time for their journey.

Alternative route

  • Angouleme Way (westbound) Jubilee Way, Peel Way, Derby Way and Rochdale Road.

The reason for the temporary overnight road closures is to allow vertical cladding and fascia boards to be installed to the new market canopies closest to the road.

The new canopies are part of the £33m Bury Market regeneration scheme.

Any disruption will be minimised as all closures will be outside the busiest travelling times.

All closures will be weather dependent as work cannot go ahead during windy weather.
