Highway Safety Inspection Policy

The primary aim of this policy is to provide direction to the Highways Team, specifically those involved in undertaking highway safety inspections, so that they can carry out their duties consistently and to clear, recognised and understood criteria.

The policy sets out the practices in terms of network hierarchy, investigatory levels, frequency of inspection and response times for repairs.

Bury Local Transport Strategy

Bury Local Transport Plan sets out our vision for the borough’s transport for the next 20 years and is our 20-year plan for transport investment.

Our Transport Strategy Vision

By 2040, the borough’s towns will be connected to each other, to Greater Manchester and beyond by an affordable, safe, reliable and well-maintained low carbon transport system. It will be easy to get around by public transport, on foot and by bike. Walking and cycling will be the first choice for short journeys for those who are able to walk and cycle. Investment in transport will help to grow the economy, reduce deprivation and improve the health and wellbeing of residents.

Highway Asset Management Plan

Our Highway Asset Management Plan explains the actions we will take to maintain our highway network while making the best use of available resource. It sets out:

  • The high-level approach we will take to maintain our highway network
  • The policies, standards and method we will follow to maintain our highway network
  • How we will tell people about how we maintain the highway network

Please note: This plan is currently under review and will be published later this year.
