Maintaining the highway network is key to maintaining a strong economy for our borough. Roads provide access to jobs, commerce, services, schools, health care and communities and have a major influence on the quality of everyday life throughout the borough.
Listening to feedback
We listen to what people tell us and, where we can, we do something about it. Here are some examples of the comments people have made and what we have done, or plan to do, in reply.
Theme: Weeds
What you said: Streets are overgrown with weeds.
What we did: We have increased our weed spraying from one spray to two sprays per year.
Theme: Reporting problems
What you said: It should be easier to report issues on the highway.
What we did: We now have a map system to help with reporting potholes, streetlights and other road issues. You can also check if issues have already been reported and track the progress of a repair.
Theme: Highway maintenance
What you said: Our roads and footways are in poor condition.
What we did: With our extra £30 million Highway Investment Programme we are improving roads and footways across the Bury borough and carrying out preventative maintenance works to help strengthen the roads and help prevent potholes from forming in the future.
