We are all increasingly aware of the damaging effects of human activity on our environment and of the responsibility that this places on us as individuals and consumers to counteract this.

The new Radcliffe Civic Hub is being built to be operationally net zero. This means that any carbon emissions created by the hub will be cancelled out by its green technology and operational offsetting. Innovative technology will also be used throughout the town centre regeneration projects.

The BREEAM 'excellent' national standard for environmental performance is being followed.

  • Solar panels will be installed at the Civic Hub and at Market Chambers.
  • The bandstand at the Piazza will have a 'green' roof.
  • State-of-the-art, airtight building fabric will be used throughout.
  • All buildings and public spaces will have low-energy lighting.
  • Heat recovery techniques will be used to heat the swimming pool areas.
