Work has begun on the £33m Bury Market regeneration project ensuring the market can continue to thrive for many years to come!
New canopies are currently being installed to create a more attractive and visible outdoor market and foundation works for the Flexi Hall are in progress, ready for the construction starting in the summer.

Bury Market will be open for business throughout the regeneration project, including during the construction phase of the Flexi Hall and while enhancement works are carried out to the outdoor market.

Site works update - May 2025
Flexi hall
- Install drainage
- Connect water and gas supplies
- Clear the site and prepare the pile mat
- Start piling works, which involves installing deep columns into the ground to create a foundation to support the flexi hall’s structure
- Replace the footpath alongside the bus station
Canopies
Canopy 1
- Install horizontal beams to support the canopy
- Install timber boards
Canopy 2
- Install polycarbonate (translucent) panels
- Install metal sheeting over the timber boards to give the canopy a waterproof finish
Site works - stages
- April 2025: Continue installing market canopies
- July 2025: Start Bury Market Flexi Hall construction
- March 2026: Start landscaping improvements
- July to August 2026: Scheme completion
