Hollins Vale Local Nature Reserve

Bury's third LNR, the Hollins Vale LNR as officially declared on 24 July 2003. The declaration of the site as a LNR has been made possible by a joint management agreement between Bury Council and Viridor Waste Management Limited who own the Vale area. This agreement allows the whole area to be managed for the benefit of wildlife and as an area of urban green space for use by the local community

The Hollins Vale site has a well established 'Friends of' group - the Hollins Conservation Group, who have been campaigning to promote the site as an LNR for its wildlife, education and recreational value. The development of the Hollins Vale site has been largely volunteer led with support from officers from Bury Council. The group holds bi-monthly meetings and welcomes anyone from the local area to attend. The meeting are used to help steer the development of the LNR project and plan practical tasks and events.
