All planning applications have to be made on the 1-App form. You can register and then submit an application direct to us electronically or download printable forms to send to us by post. Please make sure you refer to the guidance provided by the Planning Portal and also check the validation checklists available from the the end of this page. Please note that we scan all planning applications and these images are published on our website.

Validation checklists

In March 2020 Bury Council will adopt an updated set of local requirements for validation criteria of planning applications and a set of validations checklists to assist in completion of your planning application can be found at the end of this web page. If you have any comments please email to development.control@bury.gov.uk  

Local requirements are in addition to the national requirements that are set out in the Town and Country Planning (General Development Procedure)(England) Order 2015.

Other information

Design and Access Statements and plans are needed for many planning applications and further guidance is available on the planning portal web site.

Other organisations such as the Environment Agency, United Utilities and the Coal Board have information which will help you preparing a valid application.
