Rural rate relief

Some businesses that provide essential services in rural areas can receive up to 100 percent business rates relief if they're the only:

village shop or Post Office, with a rateable value of up to £8,500
public house or petrol station, with a rateable value of up to £12,500.

A rural area is a location that has a population of less than 3,000 residents. In the Bury borough, these are:

Shuttleworth
Summerseat.
