A Business Improvement District is a defined area such as a town centre like Bury, where businesses come together to collectively invest to improve their trading environment. In the ballot on 30th March 2022 the businesses in Bury voted in favour of establishing a Business Improvement District. The occupier of each hereditament (rateable unit of property) is charged an annual Levy of 1.5% of its rateable value. The BID Levy will be fixed for the 5-year term. The Bury Business Improvement District operates under the brand name Bury BID.

Bury Council have been asked by Bury BID to collect the Levy on their behalf. Bury BID will not replace statutory services already provided by Bury Council or other public sector organisations, such as emptying bins or policing.

  • your invoice number - 8 digits long beginning with '55' which can be found on the front of your BID invoice
  • your debit or credit card
