The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) is the government’s domestic replacement for the European Structural and Investment Programme (ESIF). It provides local authorities funding for communities, places, businesses, people and skills.

Strand 1: Essential Skills for Life Community Grants

Essential Skills for Life Community Grants focuses on providing opportunities for testing and exploring new approaches to engaging residents who would benefit the most from skills training but are currently not participating.

The community grant activities under this strand aim to identify and address the barriers preventing these individuals from engaging with essential skills programs. By experimenting with different methods of outreach and support, the initiative seeks to discover effective ways to reach and involve these residents, ultimately helping them gain the skills needed for personal and professional growth.

Strand 2: Progression towards Inclusive Employment Community Grants

Progression towards Inclusive Employment Community Grants aims to enhance community engagement and re-engagement efforts in some of Greater Manchester's most underserved areas.

This strand focuses on creating pathways for residents in these hard-to-reach communities to access vital skills and employment support. It recognises that barriers such as language difficulties can hinder access to these resources and seeks to address these challenges by providing targeted support. By fostering connections and offering tailored assistance, the initiative helps residents overcome obstacles and advance towards meaningful employment and skills development opportunities.
