Additional funding for Bury

On 7 April 2016 the Secretary of State for Transport announced additional funding for highway maintenance from the Government's Pothole Action Fund.

Over 100 councils were allocated additional monies from this fund to help tackle pot holes across the country. For the financial year 1 March 2016 to 31 March 2017, Bury Council was allocated £105,000 from this fund.

The Highways Capital Maintenance Programme for the same period was £1,453,000 and the additional funding from the Pothole Action Fund was used to compliment the works already planned.

Repairs carried out in Bury

Bury Council follows the recommendations of the Highway Maintenance Efficiency Programme pothole review and, where it is practical, implements a first time permanent repair of potholes.

As a result of the additional Department for Transport funding the equivalent of 2000 potholes have been permanently repaired throughout the borough.
