Volunteering is a terrific way to support your community while improving your skills, developing your talents, and gaining the type of experience employers look for. It's also great for making new friends and improving your own wellbeing.

Giving something back

The people of Radcliffe are a proud community demonstrating that they care passionately about their town.

So many local groups and individuals are regularly giving something back, helping to create a happier and safer place for everyone. Here’s just one example of the great volunteering work that’s ongoing across Radcliffe.

The transformation of Cosley Alley

Neighbours came together to show their love for where they live by teaming up to clean up the space in the alley behind their houses, so that it could be used and enjoyed by all. Now everyone chips in regularly to keep it clean, tidy and blooming. And the space is used regularly for residents to celebrate events.

Previously the alley was in a poor state but, after residents came together, the alley project went on to win this year’s RHS and MEN Ginnel Garden Competition. The group also got to visit the RHS Tatton Flower Show and earned £1,000 to further improve their alley.

  • This project was led by Radcliffe Litter Pickers to help stop littering and re-inforce a sense of community.
  • Another group of residents are now improving their alley and Radcliffe Litter Pickers hope to help more do the same.
  • A lot of the items used in these projects are up-cycled from abandoned items found on litter picks.

Let's get behind Radcliffe

Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things anyone can do. And there are so many different types of volunteering to choose from – supporting others, getting hands-on at a local green space, helping organise or run a local event, and so much more.
