This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re focusing on Action. While raising awareness is essential, real change happens when we take positive steps to support our own mental health and the wellbeing of those around us.
Everyone’s “one thing” will look different. It might be making time to read, joining a local activity, or simply connecting with others. This week, we encourage everyone to choose one positive action that works for them and helps boost their mental health.
Our libraries play an important role in supporting mental wellbeing. Through Reading Well for mental health, people can access helpful books and resources recommended by health professionals, offering practical support for common mental health challenges. Libraries also provide welcoming spaces for social contact, as well as a wide range of activities and groups that help people feel connected, supported and less isolated.
We all know that prevention is better than cure. By supporting people to look after their mental health early, we can help prevent more serious problems from developing.
