We're on your side - let's work together

Hello everyone, and welcome to 2023, which is already shaping up to be a momentous year for our borough.

I know that many of you are still struggling with the cost of living crisis, and wondering when the gloom of a new year will lift. Let me assure you that we are on your side, and will continue to support our residents and businesses in whatever ways we can to help you survive and thrive.

We all need to work together, because we have big plans and ambitions for our borough this year. Top of the list is the regeneration of our town centres, and we need everybody to be on board.

We've just released new images of the plans to revitalise Bury Market including a new flexi-hall - and we want you to have your say on these transformational proposals.

This will form a central part of wider plans to transform the town centre, including a new Bury Interchange and redeveloped Mill Gate centre.

We're holding drop-in events for visitors can talk to the project leads and give their views on the proposals. These are on Wednesday 18, Saturday 21 and Friday 27 January, from 10am to 2pm at the Bury Market Hall entrance foyer.

Alternatively, go to the webpage One Community Bury - Bury Market and Flexi Hall regeneration (you must have a One Community account to access this page) - the survey is open from 9 to 29 January.

And we haven't forgotten the other towns in our borough. We expect planning applications to be submitted within the next month on the Radcliffe regeneration proposals, centred on a new multi-purpose Civic Hub.

And regarding the multi-million pound redevelopment of the Longfield precinct in Prestwich, a 'soft launch' has already begun with a full programme of engagement and consultation to follow - for more details see Your Prestwich.

The important thing to remember is that these are not just 'council' plans - they need the support of all our residents, businesses and communities to make them a success.

I look forward to meeting and working with you in 2023 to ensure Bury remains a great place in which to live.
