Council Tax changes for 2021-22
On the front of your Council Tax bill there are a set of figures showing how much your Council Tax has changed since the last financial year. Each of the four categories which make up your Council Tax changes by a different amount. The starting point are the amounts charged in 2020-21.
Bury Council categories
On your bill there are two categories relating to Bury Council:
- Bury Council general element - main part of the Council Tax used for all the services we provide
- Adult Social Care Precept - a portion of the Council Tax dedicated to providing social care for adults
The Bury Council general element increased by 1.94% of the total amount charged by the council last year. The Adult Social Care precept increased by 3% of the total amount charged by the council last year.

Mayoral Police and Crime Commissioner Precept
This part of your Council Tax pays towards policing in the region. For 2021-22 this portion of your bill has increased by 4.8%.

Mayoral General Precept (including Fire Services)
Most of this money from this part of the bill goes towards providing a regional Fire and Rescue Service. It also includes a contribution to fund the Mayor of Greater Manchester and the functions he is responsible for. In 2021-22 this part of your bill has remained unchanged from last year.
