Coronavirus - Bury community hubs and contact centre privacy notice

About this notice

This privacy notice is to supplement the information the Council currently makes available about how the organisation collects and holds personal information. It relates specifically to the services and related support it is providing during the current Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) and it provides additional privacy information about the services and other related support provided by Bury Community Hubs and the Council's Contact Centre, when you get in touch with us by telephone or in person, or if those services make contact with you.

Legal basis for processing

The legal basis for processing your personal information comes from Article 6 of the UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR). The following sections apply:

  • Article 6(1)(e) Public task -the processing is necessary for the Council to perform a task in the public interest or for our official functions, and the task or function has a clear basis in law.

Special category data:

  • Article (2) (i) - Public health processing- it is necessary for reasons of public interest in the area of public health.

How we use your data

We will collect, hold and may share personal information about you for the following purposes and with the following organisations:

  • logging requests for services, or reporting problems to relevant Council departments and the NHS Bury Clinical Commissioning Group
  • providing advice and guidance on services the Council offers
  • providing updates on the progress of outstanding calls
  • Emergency Services
  • Other NHS agencies
  • Voluntary organisations
  • Volunteers

Categories of personal data

In order to carry out these purposes we collect the following types of information:

  • your name
  • your address
  • your phone and/or email contact details
  • your date or birth and National Insurance number - if the service you need requires this
  • information relating to medical conditions, medication and details of your doctor and pharmacy
  • your NHS number - if you contact us regarding the NHS Bury Clinical Commissioning Group

As well as information collected directly from you, we also obtain or receive information from the NHS, family members and others within the community.

Data retention and criteria

We will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, and in accordance with relevant legislation.
