You do not need to be an expert to become a school governor.
Are you:
- keen to put something back into the local community?
- interested in education?
- prepared to work as part of a team?
- open to new ideas and ready to learn?
- enthusiastic - the work is voluntary, and will take up some of your spare time
- prepared to represent and promote your school
If the answer is 'yes' then you could have what it takes to be a school governor and make a difference to our children's future.

Apply to become a school governor
The form asks you to tell us what experience and skills you can bring to the role of being a school governor.
We will contact you within two weeks to discuss your application and the vacancies available. If you are interested in a vacancy your details will be forwarded to the school.

In some cases a head teacher may request that a prospective school governor complete a skills matrix form in addition to the application form.
Bury Council is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and expects prospective Governors to share this commitment. An appointment to a school's Governing Body may be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
