VE Day Celebrations in Extra Care Schemes across Bury

Bury Housing Services recently commemorated the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day with a series of 11 events hosted across our Extra Care Schemes in Bury.

Working in partnership with schemes tenants and supported by our dedicated staff, these gatherings brought residents together to acknowledge an important historical milestone.

The celebrations offered a variety of activities including buffets, afternoon teas, music, raffles and quizzes. Each scheme benefited from a £100 donation from our Community Grant Fund, which aims to support local community initiatives. Overall, more than 200 tenants participated in the celebrations across the borough.

One resident from Taylor house said, "Thank you to our Housing Officer and her colleagues for a lovely VE Day celebration. We had a delicious spread and shared lots of memories."

These events were supported by Bury College, with 7 of their Health and Social Care students attending as part of their work placement. We’d like to say a huge thank you for their help on the day!
