The summer season is in full swing now, but it won’t be long before the colder weather start approaching and with the cold, comes more chance of damp, mould and condensation forming in your home.

Over the next few months, we’re going to be sharing some of our top tips for you to get a head start on reducing damp, mould and condensation in your home.

Let your walls breathe!

Keep your furniture away from the walls and radiators by at least 2 inches.

Wipe away condensation!

Wipe down condensation whenever you see it to stop mould from growing. If you’re using a cloth, it’s fine to use again once it’s been washed.

Reduce moisture!

Shut bathroom and kitchen doors while bathing and cooking. Open the window and ensure the extractor fan is on. This will reduce moisture in the rest of your house.

Fling open those windows!

Check for the lockable night latch setting on the windows that allows them to open a crack and still be locked. If you can’t find it, ask us to show you.

Damp hates ventilation!

Check all your extractor fans are working properly and they automatically come on if there is moisture in the air from bathing or cooking.

Check for leaks!

When it’s raining, check for leaking or overflowing gutters and let us know. Damages like these can cause damp.
