Remember, remember our top ventilating tips for November!
5th November 2024
With colder months upon us, it's easy to keep windows shut tight, but good ventilation is crucial for a healthy home! Here are some simple tips to keep damp and mould at bay by improving the ventilation in your home:
- Check Your Kitchen and Bathroom Fans: Make sure your extractor fans are working properly. They should run slowly all the time and automatically speed up when you’re cooking or showering to clear out moisture.
- Got a Full House? Consider Positive Input Ventilation (PIV): If your home has lots of people and persistent damp issues that you’re struggling to stop, contact us about a PIV system. It’s great for managing moisture build up in busy homes.
- Don’t Block Vents or Air Bricks: These are essential to keep damp air moving out. Blocking them can cause moisture to get trapped indoors.
- Ventilate Your Tumble Dryer: If you’re using a tumble dryer, ensure it’s properly vented to the outside to avoid adding extra moisture into your home.
- Open Windows on Both Sides of Your Home for Cross Ventilation: Open a window on each side of the house for just 10–15 minutes a day to let fresh air in and damp air out.
- Keep Trickle Vents Open: These small vents on your windows are designed to help circulate air out of your home continuously.
Following these tips can make a big difference in keeping your home comfortable and dry this season!
