Keep Mould Out This Summer

Summer might bring warmer days and longer evenings, but it can also create the perfect conditions for mould to thrive in your home. Rising humidity, condensation, and poor ventilation can lead to unwanted black mould, which spreads quickly if left unchecked.

You can take simple, proactive steps to stop mould in its tracks and keep your home fresh and healthy all season long. Here’s how to stay on top of it and when to reach out for help!

  • Tackle black mould immediately: Even small spots can spread fast! If you spot mould, wipe it away straight away using a specialist mould treatment—bleach only hides the problem, it doesn’t fix it.
  • Stop moisture in its tracks: Mould needs moisture to grow, so don’t give it the chance! Wipe away spills, condensation, and wet footprints quickly. Even drying bathroom walls and tiles after a shower can make a big difference.
  • Keep air flowing in kitchens and bathrooms: These are prime mould hotspots. Always use extractor fans when cooking or showering, and check that they’re working properly and not blocked.
  • Be mindful when drying laundry: Indoor drying can increase humidity, leading to mould growth. If outdoor drying isn’t possible, place clothes on a drying rack in a well-ventilated space—avoid radiators, as they trap moisture indoors.
  • Prevent condensation build-up: Moisture loves to settle on window sills and in corners. Wipe down condensation daily and leave a little space between furniture and walls to help air circulate.
  • Don’t wait—report mould concerns early: If mould keeps coming back, extractor fans aren’t working, windows won’t open, or there’s a possible issue with heating, let us know. The sooner it’s addressed, the easier it is to control.

Keeping mould at bay is easier when you act fast and stay aware of moisture build-up. Whether it’s wiping down condensation, using extractor fans, or reporting maintenance concerns, every small effort helps prevent bigger problems down the line.

These tips can help prevent damp, mould and condensation in your home but if you’re having consistent issues, please report them here so we can figure out the problem!
