Bury Licensing Policy consultation

Draft Bury Licensing Policy 2026-2031

We are currently reviewing our Licensing Policy. We must review our policy statement at least once every five years. Our last consultation took place in 2020.

The consultation is open to everyone, although we must consult with the following people and organisations directly.

  • The Chief Officer, Greater Manchester Police
  • Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service
  • Director of Public Health in Bury
  • Bury Council Environmental Health Team/Health and Safety Executive
  • Bury Planning Team
  • Chief Inspector of Weights & Measures, Bury Council Trading Standards Team
  • Bury Council Children's Services
  • Any other licensing authority responsible for the area where part of the premises is located

We are inviting comments on the draft copy of our review of our Statement of Licensing Policy.

The consultation closes on 22 October 2025.

What happens next

Once the consultation has ended, we will review all comments received and publish them on our website (anonymously if requested).

The policy document will then go through an approval process with the Licensing and Safety Committee and up to Full Council. The approved document will be published and effective in January 2026.
