Pocket parks are small parks designed for use in public spaces around urban areas. They create inviting outside spaces for residents and the community to use.

Radcliffe Pocket Park will be created with £270,000 of funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to enhance and improve the existing area adjacent to the River Irwell on Stand Lane, complementing the wider town centre regeneration that is taking place.

The design

Following workshops with local community groups, our landscape architects have created a more developed design that will make the new riverside pocket park a more inclusive, open, visible and secure place to enjoy.

Suggestions incorporated into the new design include:

  • Sensory play equipment
  • Accessible routes around the park
  • Low maintenance planting, materials and planters
  • Links to the area’s biodiversity and heritage
