Bury joins Greater Manchester Library System

Update 2 February:-

  • eBooks and eAudiobooks - you can now go to the link below to change your password on the new library system which will let you have access again to Borrowbox eBooks and eAudiobooks
  • eMagazines - the Libby app has now moved over to link to the new library system. Go to the Libby app, try to borrow a magazine and you will be asked to verify your card details. At this point enter your library barcode number and the new password you set up for accessing your library account. You should then be able to download magazines again.

From 19 January Bury Libraries will join the Greater Manchester Library System.

This means that your Bury Library card will allow you to reserve and borrow items from other Greater Manchester Libraries as well as being able to continue to use the libraries in Bury, Prestwich, Radcliffe and Ramsbottom and all of our online services.

How will this affect you?

The main issue will be that you will have to reset your library password if you wish to continue to use many of our services, such as:

•    eBooks, eAudiobooks
•    eMagazines
•    computer access
•    Manage your library account online

You will be able to change your password online from Thursday 19 Jan. You will also be able to change your password by visiting your local library. You will be able to continue to access these services with your current log-in until Sun 15 Jan. After this date we will be switching over to the new system for authentication, so there may be some interruption to the availability of our online services.

Our libraries will be open as normal throughout, but if you are planning to borrow anything on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 January please bring your library card. This will be a great help to staff who will find it more difficult to look up your details over these 2 days.

Change your password online after Thursday 19 January

We are sorry for the inconvenience that this will cause, but we believe that the benefit of joining the Greater Manchester Library System will make this worthwhile.
