Introduction of the Order and Collect Service at Bury Library

From Tuesday 11 August library customers are able to borrow books again from Bury Library as the library service launches its Order and Collect Service.

Please note that items will be available for collection for 2 weeks and if not collected they will be returned to stock.

From Tuesday 11 August library customers will be able to:-

  • order books online

Library staff will process the orders and customers will be contacted when the order is ready to be collected at a specific time slot.

From Thursday 13 August ordered books can be collected at the following times. You will be given a collection time by library staff, please return any existing books on loan in the time slot allocated to you:-

  • Tuesdays from 1pm to 4pm
  • Wednesdays from 1pm to 4pm
  • Thursdays from 1pm to 4pm
  • Fridays from 1pm to 4pm

From Friday 28 August people will be able to return books from 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Friday. There will be a box outside the library during those hours.

Computer access

Unfortunately we cannot offer public access to computers at this time.

For those customers who still do not feel comfortable in returning to the library our online resources will continue to be available. During the lockdown period these have been incredibly popular with over 41,000 electronic items (eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines being issued and there have been over 20,000 views for our Facebook Rhyme Time and Storytime sessions for children.

The Order and Collect service at Bury is the first stage of our phased return of the library service and we will be unlocking our other libraries one at a time; this will allow us to open safely and support staff in their return to work.

We are also developing plans to reintroduce the Home Library service and the Archives service. During the lockdown period the majority of Libraries + Archives staff have been working to support the Community Hubs and we will continue to do so if required.
