Retail, hospitality and leisure discount
A 100% business rates discount is available for shops, restaurants/cafes, pubs, gyms, museums, theatres, hotels and night clubs.
This is a temporary discount which will run for one year from 1 April 2020. It means eligible properties will not pay business rates for the financial year 2020/21.
Eligibility is based on the type of your business. A full list of eligible types of businesses is available in the downloads section at the bottom of this page. There are no limits on the rateable value of the property and no State Aid restrictions.
The discount is only available to occupied properties. However if your business has closed temporarily due to the coronavirus, you will still qualify.
We have identified the businesses entitled to this discount. New bills were sent out at the end of March 2020. If you have not received an amended bill and you believe you should be eligible, please complete the form below with your details.
Although your business may not have to pay business rates for the 2020/21 financial year you should still let us know if you change your address, your property becomes unoccupied, or something else changes that means you are no longer eligible for the discount.
Grants for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses
