We are responsible for maintaining street furniture in public areas within the borough of Bury. Examples of street furniture include:

  • benches
  • crash barriers
  • fences and gates
  • litter bins
  • pedestrian guardrails
  • cycle stands
  • road signs
  • street lights
  • traffic bollards

Please note:

  • Bury Council is not responsible for maintaining street furniture on private land.
  • Bus shelters and bus stops are maintained by Transport for Greater Manchester
  • Telephone boxes, poles and cabinets are maintained by Openreach.

How we respond to reports

In areas we maintain (for example, roads, pavements, public open spaces, parks, cemeteries and car parks) we aim to inspect the issue within 10 working days.
