Gritting, salt bin locations and winter weather advice
Our full winter service starts officially from 1 November 2018. Decisions to grit or not grit are based on the Open Road Winter Forecast Service provided by the Met Office. The service is activated whenever temperatures are predicted to fall below freezing.
Please be aware that we cannot grit all roads throughout the borough or respond to individual requests for gritting or salt bins. Our priority is to ensure that the network of treated roads is kept reasonably free of ice and snow.
