This year's Light Night will take place on Friday 10 October 2014 from 6pm.
Join Bury in celebrating a night of Eastern delights and discover unusual happenings across the town centre with a unique arts and culture programme in venues and public spaces. The programme includes:
authentic Indian music,
eastern themed performances and traditional Bollywood dance,
storytelling and poetry in amazing Asian inspired spaces,
atmospheric lights and projections bringing buildings alive,
exotic, bustling markets.
Venues are open across the town including:
Bury Art Museum.
The Fusilier Museum and Tourist Information Centre.
The Transport Museum.
The Mill Gate Shopping Centre.
The Rock Shopping Centre.
There will be happenings for all to discover in the town's public spaces, including at:
Kay Gardens (outside the Bus and Rail Interchange)
Buses or trams are a great way to get to Bury Light Night. You'll have no problems parking and there are direct services to Bury from most surrounding areas and further afield. Visit the Transport for Greater Manchester website to find out which is the best service for you. Here you will find information about fares and a journey planner for all public transport in the region. Road closures and parking
On Friday 10 October road closures will be in place at the locations and times shown below.
Bolton Street closed from 5pm to 10pm
Silver Street closed from 5pm to 10pm
Market Place closed from 5pm to 10pm
The Rock closed from 7am to 11pm
The Wylde/Cooper Street/Castle Street closed from 5pm to 10pm
Market Street/Haymarket Street closed from 5pm to 10pm
Broad Street closed from 5pm to 10pm
Parking in Bury town centre will be affected as follows.
There will be no access to East Lancashire Railway car park from 5pm while the Bolton Street closure is in place.
There will be no access to The Castle car park (opposite the East Lancashire Railway) from 5pm while the Bolton Street closure is in place.
Castle Leisure Centre car park will remain open.
On-street parking is suspended in any of the streets subject to a road closure.
The taxi rank situated at Kay Gardens will move to the other side of the road from 5pm while the road closure is in place.
