Supplementary Planning Guidance or SPGs are linked to Bury's current Unitary Development Plan (UDP). New supplementary publications are now called Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD's), which will supplement matters covered in the Development Plan. There are three basic forms of SPGs/advice that we currently use:
- Supplementary Planning Guidance and Documents: To provide additional guidance on the implementation of particular policies.
- Masterplans and Development Area Guidance: To take the form of providing additional guidance for broad areas of the Borough such as town centres.
- Site Development Briefs: To provide advice and guidance on the development of specific sites.
Other Non-Council Advice
- Transport for Greater Manchester (TFGM) have produced non-statutory guidance on Transport for Sustainable Communities: A guide for developers which is intended to supplement the statutory policies set out in the National Planning Policy Framework and local planning policies. The guidance is available on the TFGM website (see offsite link on the right hand side of this page).
- Ainsworth Village Design Statement (AVDS) was produced in partnership with the Ainsworth Community Association, Radcliffe Area Board and Bury Council. Although the AVDS has no formal standing as a Supplementary Planning Document, it is a useful document for the users of Bury's planning services and planning officers of the Council.
