Children in Care Council

Frequently asked questions

What is the Children in Care Council?

The Children in Care Council is a group of young people who are looked after that are interested in making a difference to the Looked After Children Service.

What do the Children in Care Council do?

The Children in Care Council has been established to give children in care a forum to express their views and influence the services and support they receive from Bury Council.

The Children in Care Council will ensure that each child's views can be put directly to those responsible for corporate parenting including the Executive Director of Children's Services and Lead Member (councillor) for children.

The Children in Care Council will give children the chance to shape and influence the parenting that they receive at every level - from expressing their wishes and feelings about the individual care they receive in their placements, through to helping to shape the overall strategy for children in their area through the Children in Care Council.
