Richard Lester, Ranger, based at St Mary's Park
Prestwich area (St Mary's Park and flower park, Philips Park, Prestwich Clough, Barnfield Park)
Richard is originally from Borth-y-Gest, a village near Snowdonia National Park in North West Wales. He began working as a Ranger in May 2004.
Following a year volunteering for the Snowdonia Woodland Trust in 1996, he went on to study Countryside Management at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
During his course, Richard undertook a year of work experience which included a spell working as an Assistant Warden on a remote islet off the Isle of Man, and another working for the National Trust in the Snowdonia National Park. Previous to this job Richard was working as a Conservation Officer for the Countryside Council for Wales.
Richard's interests include travel, snowboarding, photography and mountaineering, and he has climbed many of the larger mountains of Snowdonia.
Richard says "I enjoy the practical aspect of being a Ranger and the variety of people who I meet. My aims are to work closely with the local community and encourage them to enjoy using the park's facilities and to get involved with the maintenance and management of the Parks".
