Croal Irwell Regional Park

Regional Parks are identified in the North West Regional Spatial Strategy as places for recreation on the edge of connurbations that may deflect longer journeys, for example from the Lake District or Peak District. The Croal and Irwell valleys have been put forward by Bolton, Bury and Salford Councils as a potential regional park. Because of the extent of publically-owned land in the Irwell Valley at Clifton and Prestwich, it may be that this area becomes the core of the regional park.
