Bury Home Options is the name of our choice-based lettings scheme.
Choice-based lettings replaces the traditional way of allocating housing when housing officers matched applicants who have priority on the waiting list to available vacancies.
Choice-based lettings allows applicants for council housing (and existing tenants seeking a move) to apply for available vacancies.
Applicants can see the full range of available properties:
on the Bury Home Options website
at the Housing reception, Bury Town Hall
at Six Town Housing, 6 Knowsley Place, Angouleme Way, Bury, BL9 0EL
at Council Information Points
Search and bid for a property on-line
You will need to login to the Bury Home Options website (see link on right of the page) using the user name and password we have given you. Once you are logged in you will be able to search for properties and express an interest in any properties are you are eligible for.
Please contact us if you have forgotten your username or password.
How to apply for a property
You must be registered on our waiting list to express an interest.
Once you are registered, you can express an interest in any of the properties that are suitable for you. For example:
a single person will not be considered for a 3 bedroom house; and
a large family will not be considered for a property that would make them overcrowded.
Properties will be let to applicants who apply and have the highest priority need. Adapted properties are let to applicants who apply, require the adaptations and have the highest priority.
Bury Home Options properties are advertised for one week only - each Wednesday with a closing date and time of 5pm the following Tuesday.
Go to 'how to express an interest' page to find out what to do once you have seen a property you are interested in.

Properties are advertised for rent by private sector landlords accredited through our Landlord Accreditation Scheme.
