which is also know as domiciliary care is designed to support you with day-to-day personal and domestic tasks so that you can live as independently as possible in your own home.
Home carers can help with eating and drinking, washing and bathing, dressing and undressing, going to bed and getting up, going to the toilet, and assisting with medication. They can also help with domestic tasks, such as preparing meals, laundry and shopping.
If you need significant regular help with personal care and practical tasks, Bury Council may be able to arrange for a home carer to visit you.
First of all, you will need to contact Bury Council. You can do this by telephoning our Contact Centre, the number is in the 'contact us' on the right . A care manager will to talk to you about the support you need at home. This is called an assessment, and if we can support you, we will write a Support Plan with you.
Everyone's needs are different, if it is agreed that home care should be part of your package of support, a social worker will discuss with you what you need your carer to do and when you would like them to come round.
Bury Council does not directly employ people to provide home care. Instead, the Council has contracts with a small number of organisations that provide a high quality home care service in Bury. We call these organisations 'providers'. There is a list of providers in the downloads section on the right. For information on care charges please see related pages on the right.
The provider will give you information about their home care service and their business details. A start date will be agreed and your home care will begin.
There is also a list of home care providers on the Care Quality Commission website which is in the links on the right.
