The Bereavement Service

Losing a loved one is a difficult time. Death in itself is distressing, and unfortunately the procedures which must be followed can be an extra burden.

Bury Council's Bereavement Service can provide useful help and advice when dealing with a death.

The borough's cemeteries

We own three cemeteries in the Borough of Bury.  The cemetery office is based at Bury Cemetery.

  • Bury Cemetery, St Peter's Road, Bury.
  • Ramsbottom Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Ramsbottom.
  • Radcliffe Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Radcliffe.

For more detailed information on the borough's cemeteries including the cemetery regulations and visiting the cemetery see the link on the right to 'Cemeteries'.

Bereavement advice

Our advice section gives useful information about what to do after someone dies. We cover various topics, for example, getting legal advice, probate and wills.  See the link on the right to 'Legal advice, financial advice, tax advice'.

Registering a death

By law all deaths must be registered. You need to register a death to obtain documents for the funeral director and for dealing with the deceased's estate.  See the link on the right to 'Registration of deaths'.

Funeral services

If you need to organise a funeral, we have information on local funeral directors and stone masons and Bury's Municipal Funeral Service.  See the link on the right to 'Funeral services'.
