Prestwich Library and Adult Learning Centre

This is a national service where you can submit your question 9-5pm Monday to Friday during which time it will be answered by a real librarian from anywhere in the UK via chat.  Outside these times you will need to submit your email address in order to receive a reply.  For questions relating to Bury Library Service only, such as opening times, book renewals etc. please use Contact Us displayed to the right of the page where you can get in touch with us by completing an online form or by telephone.


Prestwich centre facilities

Prestwich Library and Adult Learning Centre lends books, DVDs, talking books, language tapes and CDs. There are photocopying, and FAX facilities. National daily and weekly local newspapers and a selection of magazines are stocked. University prospectuses and careers information is also available. The library sells gift card book tokens and a selection of local publications.

There are 13 public computers available for pre booking or drop in use. Computers are free to use for a maximum of 1 hour per day, with Internet access, Microsoft Office applications and variety of online services. Access to computers and the Internet is free of charge so booking in advance is advisable. You must be a library member to book in advance. Regular events held at the centre include: 

  • Story Time sessions for pre school children - Tuesdays 10.45am to 11.30am, term time only.
  • Homework Clubs
  • Reading Groups

Adult Learning

There are various courses now running in the three classrooms at Prestwich Library and Adult Learning Centre. Prospective students can enrol by telephone or in person at any of the Bury Adult Learning centres. Courses are available to suit a variety of interests - now booking.

Prestwich Heritage Museum

The current theme is Prestwich and the Coronation. This exhibition will run until December 2013. The museum is accessible during library opening hours. 

Council Information Point

Prestwich Library and Adult Learning Centre is a Council Information Point - bringing council services closer to home.

Car parking

Free parking is available on Fairfax Road and the Longfield main car park after 9.30am.
