Housing Need and Demand Assessment 2011/12
Bury Council carried out their Housing Need and Demand Assessment in 2011/12. The assessment is a Government requirement and will inform the council on the housing needs for the residents and the demand for particular types of housing in Bury.
David Couttie Associates (DCA) was formally commissioned to carry out this study on behalf of Bury Council in May 2011. The aim of the assessment was to provide the evidence base for a number of key pieces of work, including Bury's housing strategy, other key strategies, and the development of planning documents.
The Housing Need and Demand Assessment identified:
Future housing need
The level of affordable housing needed by size and type
The housing needs of particular groups i.e. households with support needs, older people and ethnic minority communities
The assessment also provided a wealth of information, data and a robust evidence including:
The current housing market, covering house prices, tenure, migration, travel to work, overcrowding and private rented sector
The current and future housing need
The requirements of different household types including households with support needs, older people and ethnic minority households
The policy implications in respect to housing markets, new housing provision, targets for affordable housing, and overall housing targets
Housing Market Bulletin
The increasing complexity of the housing market makes it important for housing strategists and policy makers to understand what is happening locally so they can plan response to changes in housing supply and demand.
The purpose of Bury's Housing Market Bulletin is to provide an overview of the housing market in Bury and to provide a regular source of data that provides up to date housing market intelligence to inform and assist in the evaluation of housing and planning policies and strategies.
